about

Heather Fiona’s album is a heartfelt and soulful collection of songs with a nod to Motown and the 50s/60s Nashville sound. Her standout vocals have the vulnerability of Tracy Chapman blended with the grit and depth of Adele.

A sense of nostalgia can be felt throughout the album, ranging from the slow burning croon of Sunday Afternoon and Even If to the up-tempo blues number Ode to Melbourne. The title track Every Beginning... is a gut-wrenching ballad, thick with Tim Guy's horn arrangement, that builds to a vocal climax. The attitude heavy Can I Hold Your Hand and Bad Taste make for playful bluesy interludes. In contrast to the rest of the album is the country infused Bad For You featuring Lloyd Davies on violin and Heather's haunting harmonica bends.
